Sentimental Georgian Portrait Miniature - Pendant or Brooch

It is such a treasure to hold something so old. This Georgian era portrait miniature looks to be a sentimental piece - likely gifted to a special someone by this handsome gentleman at a time before photographs made it easy to carry our beloved's likeness with us. The reverse contains a lock of his plaited brown hair beneath glass. It is all encased in a rosey gold frame.

He is dressed in Regency Era clothing, which would date it somewhere from 1790-1820. As a lover of Jane Austen novels, this is one of my favorite time periods.

It has a small loop in the back and could be worn as a pendant. It also has the components to wear it as a brooch, but the pin has been blunted (perhaps a previous owner preferred wearing it as a pendant and didn't want to be poked). If you would be interested in wearing it as a pin, that part could be filed sharp again by a jeweler.

SIZE / MEASUREMENTS:
It measures approx 1-7/8" tall by just over 1-1/2" wide

CONDITION:
It is over 200 years old and it does show some age appropriate wear. The glass on the front has some abrasions and pitting across the entire surface. There is a small chip to the glass in the back. Please read the note above about the brooch pin.
